Making music doesn't have to stop when you leave school!

Dundee Community Youth Orchestra meets weekly for rehearsals. Come along to see familiar faces and find new friends.

School leavers can start as early as Easter.

Are you 25 or younger and have left school?

Are you missing the thrill of making music and meeting like-minded people?

Did you play a musical instrument in an orchestra or band at school?

No instrument?
No problem

Come & join Dundee Community Youth Orchestra

We are musical group aimed at school leavers to 25 year olds who played an instrument at school and want to continue music-making with their peers.   We are a registered charity with a small, enthusiastic board of trustees.

Most of our members hadn't picked up their instrument since they left school. We are playing a wide-ranging repetoire selected to suit our abilities.

We rehearse weekly on Thursdays - come along from 6pm, playing 6.30-8.30pm, with a snack break.

Term-time rehearsals take place at Harris Academy, Perth Road, Dundee - come to the Community Entrance (around the back of the school, follow the road at the right of the building to the car park and Community Entrance. Ask for the music department.)

In the school holidays we move to Logie & St John's (Cross) Church Hall off Blackness Ave (entrance on Shaftesbury Terrace).

He currently works as a freelance music tutor, as well as performing regularly with the Staffin Island Ceilidh Band. He received a Dundee Musicians' Award in 2018 for his work with the Ceol Gallda project. When not teaching music, he can often be found playing fiddle in local trad sessions around Dundee.

Instrument Amnesty

If you have an old musical instrument at home which you no longer need, please consider donating it to us.  Dundee's young people receive free instrument hire when they are at school, so many of them no longer have an instrument after they leave.

Please contact us DundeeCYO@gmail.com, or drop off at Kenny's Music, Rainbow Music or Vintage Strings in Dundee, or Gillies, Broughty Ferry.
